New York City-based classic Italian restaurant Romagna Ready 2 Go will remove all animal products from its menu for an event on February 6. Kiki Adami—founder of vegan consulting company Veganizer NYC—approached the owner of Romagna after dining at vegan eatery by CHLOE across the street. “While by CHLOE had a line out the door with [more than] 15 employees running around,” Adami tells VegNews, “Romagna was empty … literally—not a single patron.” After speaking to Adami, Romagna’s chef owner, Lorenzo Lorenzi, agreed to veganize his menu after the initial February event to compete with the flourishing neighboring restaurant. “by CHLOE’s success is rocking the foundation of success that local Bleecker Street eateries have always comfortably sat upon,” Adami says, “sending people back to the drawing board; an act many of them never would’ve expected.” Lorenzi partnered with vegan chef Peter Cervoni to bring yet another cruelty-free establishment to Bleecker Street. Adami believes this is just the beginning. “I have a feeling that Bleecker Street will become Veganized Bleecker Street over the next couple years,” Adami says, “starting with Romagna.”
