Animal-rights organization Farm Sanctuary is hosting a comedy benefit, titled “A Moo-ving Night of Cow-medy” in New York City on April 30th. The show will feature a variety of acclaimed voices from across the mediascape, including Myq Kaplan from Last Comic Standing, queer/Latinx Emmy-nominated writer Julio Torres, Saturday Night Live cast member Luke Null, Ashley Nicole Black from Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, and Nikki Glaser of Comedy Central’s Not Safe with Nikki Glaser. “One reason I’m vegan is because I’m against causing unnecessary suffering, and one reason I’m a comedian is because I’m for causing necessary pleasure,” Kaplan told VegNews. “So doing comedy to help benefit Farm Sanctuary makes double sense.” In addition to jokes, the evening will feature a cocktail reception, plant-based appetizers, and a chance to meet and network with Farm Sanctuary President and co-founder Gene Baur. The funds from the benefit will go toward Farm Sanctuary’s work in animal rescue, education, and advocacy.

Buffy Flores is a trans, Latinx, and vegan Philadelphia-based writer and editor with a focus on building a more inclusive and thoughtful animal-rights movement so she can help save the world.
